My 10 year old Leonberger got some kind of skin bacteria and did two rounds of antibiotics that did not help. I then ordered K9 Power and she began a remarkable recovery. Total K9 is a broad-spectrum supplement providing support for the overall health and well-being of the dog. It is one of three formulas in our Life Stage lineup and is the perfect supplement for dogs aged 1-7 years of age with no underlying issues such as coat and skin, joint, digestion or immunity issues. The formula addresses the functioning and health of the dog's organ systems, especially skin and coat, gut, brain, ocular, bone and joint, and heart. If your dog displays signs of specific issues such as scratching, excessive shedding, seasonal allergies, joint discomfort, reduced mobility, stiffness, or digestion/immune issues then we recommend reviewing our other formulas like Show Stopper, Joint Strong, and Digest Forte that are designed to address more targeted problems.
Total K9® is a great addition to any canine diet be it raw, dry, or wet foods that have a complete base. If you are preparing homemade meals for your dog, you should research your ingredients to be sure you are hitting the proper macros and your calcium to phosphorus ratios are correct.
Our Total K9® formula is designed for dogs over 6 months of age. Our recommendation would be our Puppy Gold® formula. Puppy Gold® is formulated similarly to canine mothers’ milk to support your puppy’s development after weaning. Puppy Gold includes powerful ingredients that include the primary building blocks of muscle, bone, tendon, ligaments, articular cartilage and other connective tissues. Pups should remain on Puppy Gold until 12 months of age and transition to our other formulas.
It is certainly okay for you to give your dog more than one of our supplements. If you are using two supplements, we recommend splitting them between AM and PM meals. Anytime you start a new supplement, we recommend you introduce it slowly with ½ of the recommended amount and gradually work up to the full amount over 7-10 days. Once your dog acclimates to the first supplement, you can introduce the second one on the same starting schedule.

Our Vet approved Total K9 for our dogs, based on the inclusion of green lipped mussel in that product, which is useful in supporting joint and muscle health especially for our two older dogs. It also helps keep their coats nice and full, without making them oily to the touch.

The proof is in the performance. We were turned onto K9 Power through a friend when we were planning our first litter with our 4-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, Maple. When we found out Maple was having a large litter of 10 pups, we wanted to make sure she had the nutrients to keep up after delivery. We started Maple on Puppy Gold twice daily with her meals and were thrilled with her milk production and overall maintenance of general health. K9 Power’s Total K9 includes green lipped mussel - and we feel it’s been instrumental in keeping our two older dogs as active as ever. All of our dogs have beautiful coats that aren’t gummy. While K9 Power was undergoing some changes in the past few years, we scoured the country to source enough Total K9, to keep our dogs on it, until K9 Power was available again. We love the new packaging which fits in our travel feed box without having to transfer it into smaller containers.
